Religion & Politics

Beliefnet has a list of "Who's Who on the Religious Left" here. We say it looks an awful lot like a "usual suspects" list, but that might be just jealousy.

One of the biggest stories going this week outside that damn invertebrate is the attempt of certain conservative Christians, known as the "Arlington Group" to tie the passage of Pres. Bush's Social Security "reform" to simultaneous passage of the Defense of Marriage Act. Pam has analysis and reaction here, here, and here. Warning: Actual Freeper Quotes ahead!

More links from Religion News Writers, and a couple of stories from the Christian Post and Ethics Daily. Gary Bauer provides a helpful list of "senators currently co-sponsoring the marriage amendment":

    Alexander (R-TN)
    Burr (R-NC)
    Cornyn (R-TX)
    Crapo (R-ID)
    DeMint (R-SC)
    Dole (R-NC)
    Enzi (R-WY)
    Frist (R-TN)
    Hatch (R-UT)
    Hutchison (R-TX)
    Inhofe (R-OK)
    Isakson (R-GA)
    Kyl (R-AZ)
    Lott (R-MS)
    Martinez (R-FL)
    McConnell (R-KY)
    Roberts (R-KS)
    Santorum (R-PA)
    Sessions (R-AL)
    Talent (R-MO)
    Thune (R-SD)
    Vitter (R-LA)

Like Bauer suggests, if these are your senators, "call the Capitol Hill switchboard at (202) 224-3121" and let 'em know how you feel.

On the other hand, since FF's senator is Rick "Man-on-Dog" Santorum, we might just save our breath.

Perhaps because of all this, Roy Moore thinks the nation is under the grip of "Godless Tyranny." Wonder when he'll get around to running for the US Senate from Pennsyltucky?

The Pew Forum on Religious and Public Life has released a new study on the "Faith-based Partisan Divide." We haven't read it yet, but given their past record, it'll be grist for the mill, one way or the other.

And while we're talking about religion & politics, remember to head on over to Beliefnet and take their latest quiz: "How Well Do You Know Satan?"

Depends. Is PBJ Diddy's "real" name Satan or Beelzebub?
